IBCLC’s are in the unique position of interacting with both the mother
and the baby. While the breastfeeding mom has her doctor and the baby has
a pediatrician, it’s the IBCLC who treats them as one motherbaby unit. We
are an integral part of the health care team, reporting back to your other
health care providers. This cooperative approach facilitates formulation,
communication and coordination of your team's approach to managing the
lactation issues concerning you and your baby.
